Luke Aston of the Clare Dragoon and Sean Maguire of Lady Gwen reports on the last few days charter fishing…

13 July

Spurdog
the best spurdog on Clare Dragoon was just over 13lb and 110cm in length.

The Clare Dragon showed her worth again today as they managed to fish in very fresh conditions. It did limit what they could do but with lots of mackerel for bait, the over shallower areas produced some good Spurdogs with the best a big, fat female of just over 13lb and 110cm in length.

Lady Gwen also got plenty of bait but fished more over some pollack grounds and sandy areas where red gurnards were accounted for.

12 July

Lady Gwen had a great bunch from the UK back fishing with them again, though this year there were a couple of new faces. They didn’t stray too far as it was a little bit choppy for the newcomers but a fun day’s fishing was enjoyed nonetheless with plenty of pollack caught.

Anglers on the Clare Dragoon were also out on pollack grounds where they enjoyed a busy day on the shads and pirks. Plenty of fish to be had!

The Clare Dragoon started today with a fresh NW wind and a crack at the Tope. Although the wind was dropping conditions were still not great as they anchored up. However some Tope in the boat and Frank had this fine male. In the afternoon we got a quick wrasse session in and then went after the Spurs. Plenty of them about and lots over double figures with the best being a 14lb specimen.

10 July

The Clare Dragoon was fishing in a gale of wind in the estuary today but we managed Thornback and Spotted Ray, Tub Gurnard, Conger, Bullhuss, Doggies and Mackerel. But we are hoping to get west again soon!!

08 July

Luke Aston on the Clare Draggon tells us he started today not sure if he would get out of the estuary as the forecast was giving the wind rising. As it happened they got a full day outside and got some good drifts in.
