Ger Dunne and Stan Ryan had a great day out in Ardmore on Tuesday. The wind was due to change from an easterly to a southerly direction on Monday night. This coincided with a very high tide. Armed with freshly dug lug they started fishing at 3pm, casting into a beautiful rolling surf. Almost immediately Stan’s rod had a savage take but he missed the fish. Ger’s rod then buckled as he connected with a very strong bass that gave him a great fight. This fish was in superb condition and was his best bass so far.
Soon afterwards Stan landed a similar fish. The pair fished until 7.30pm, landing 5 fish in total and losing 4 others.
Not content with this they were back on the beach for the night shift – from 12.30-3.30 am. The wind had turned westerly and was accompanied by heavy rain. Two more bass were landed and several lost. Coalies and flounder completed a fantastic outing. All fish were returned to fight another day.
Stan tells us that the fishing in the Ardmore area is really excellent at the moment.
