Sea pinks
Sea pinks

19 May: A carnival atmosphere about town with calm winds and blue sky’s and the biggest cruise ship ever to visit town on Sunday and also the Findlater all Ireland open boat competition out of Killybegs this weekend it seems to be all happening. Burst out of work and away to the shore. It was sheer bliss; high water and a calm bay. The blooming of the sea pinks always a welcome sight for the shore angler as temperatures increase and the sight of the sea birds in their nests awaiting summer.

Some lovely Turbot to 35cm and plenty of dogs and then a welcome visit by some of the Irish team anglers for an evening on the shore. It was great to see the pristine bait presentation as Dave reeled in a lovely 37cm dab and Barry a 40cm Plaice all released after a few pics as the sun slipped away behind the hill….bliss
