12/2/18 We Lough Currane anglers are still waiting enthusiastically for the first Wild Atlantic Salmon Strike for 2018. As we all know over the weekend Local Fly Angler Mr. Kevin O’Shea has shown us how its done and one can say without any fear of contradiction Kevin has done a Winston Churchill on the Lough Currane Anglers. Now for Weather, today was cold with snow on the mountains and a fresh SW wind blowing and overcast and this evening www.met.ie has issued a yellow warning. 13/2/18 All the Salmon head lines came from the World Famous Butler Pool of www.watervillegolflinks.ie . This evening Local Angler and Pro Golfer Mr. Liam Higgins caught a cracker of an 11 lbs. Salmon on the fly. Now we head upstream to Lough Currane where it was all quiet on SW front and Local Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy of www.fishingwithdom.com reported that there were a few boats out manipulating but sadly still waiting for that first elusive Salmon, but to be fair there was a good flood last night but you can mark my Words My Noble Lough Currane Salmon will be caught in the next few days? 14/2/18 The Waterville Fishery today was all quiet on the SW front, so on that note we will head for the controversy in the weights and measures of yesterday’s fine fish. Yesterday I was accused of False News by exaggerating the weight of Liam’s fine Salmon by ½ lb and I have checked all my correspondence and there is no exaggeration on my part, you could say its 3-1 in my favour! Wind WSW fresh with good cloud cover with showers. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 2.4mm. Maximum air temperature 6.8c.
15/2/18 It’s the cold weather today that makes all the headlines with a fresh to strong SW wind blowing with a mixture of rain, sleet and snow and with all that the Lough Currane anglers battled it out, but to no avail. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 13.8mm. Maximum air temperature 11.0c.
16/2/18 Lough Currane was on the Wild side this morning with a strong SW wind blowing down the Lake as anglers waited eagerly for the wind to drop, but it was after lunch befor the odd boat ventured out and sadly they didn’t record Lough Currane’s first Salmon this day. Wind as already stated, there was some good heavy rain at times during the day. Yesterdays’s weather, amount od rainfall 3.4mm. Maximum air temperature 7.2c.
17/2/18 They say to be a Salmon angler one has to have the patience of a Saint and that may well be true, because the Lough Currane Anglers patience is being tried to the limit as they still try and catch the first Lough Currane Salmon of 2018. Wind Light and variable WSW and veered SE fresh with good cloud cover with showers. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 9.2mm. Maximum air temperature 9.5c.
18/2/18 Lough Currane anglers were in the calm, cool and colective mood in all departments as they looked up to the heavens and pondered on their next move in the fly and lure department and as their day drew to an end at least they could say they were still in the race to catch first Lough Currane Salmon for 2018. Now For the tails of the unexpected, rumour has it that there was a Big Sea Trout in 14 lbs. class caught in the past week? Wind SW light to calm and overcast with light misty rain at times.
