Getting into sea angling in Ireland can sometimes be easier said than done. Where to go, what to do, what bait to use – we all started somewhere and had to learn, but it’s a lot easier with friends and other anglers to help. While joining a club is a great idea to meet fellow anglers, sometimes clubs are heavily focused on the competition scene, and that can be daunting to beginners.

James Raymond from Irish Angling Adventures is a sea angling guide who just wants to see more people fishing, whether it be for pleasure or competition. So he’s organising a series of monthly meet-ups to allow people to socialise and learn from ohtert anglers in a no-pressure environment.

James: The aim is to just go fishing once a month for a few hours. The whole point is that there are a few people fishing, chatting and just learning. No money, no egos just having some craic. Turn up with your gear and bait and just have a cast with others.

This wont be a set schedule every month or at a set location. I’m just going to pick a free date every month and head somewhere for a cast. It will be mainly mid week sessions. Realistically most of these sessions will be Kerry, Limerick and Clare with the odd few dotted around the country. The dates, times and locations will be posted on the newly created Irish Angling Adventures Community Page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/irishanglingadventurescommunity/) so join the group to stay up to date.
Click on the link above to sign up and to be kept informed of dates and venues. And good luck to everyone taking part, it sounds like a fantastic way to meet other anglers and pick up a few tips. And having fished with Jameson a few occasions, I’m sure it will be good craic too!
