Monday 30th July  to Sunday 5th August 2018.

The river had moderate to fair levels over the week and a nice flood on Thursday (0.34m). The gauge average for the week read 0.21 metres. 17 visiting rods fished for the week. There were good numbers of salmon caught for the week (mainly grilse) given the fairly low attendance.

On Monday, Alan Mooney recorded 2 salmon weighing 14lb & 4½lb caught and released on fly from beat 9.

On Wednesday, Brian Smith reported a 7lb salmon caught and released on a fly from beat 9. Michael McLaughlin logged a 6½lb grilse caught on fly from beat 6. John McGimpsey registered 2 grilse weighing 6 & 2lb caught and released on fly from beat 8 and Denis Bonnet caught and released 3 grilse  weighing 4lb each on fly from beat 7 having lost a 10 & 7lb salmon and risen 5 more!

On Thursday, Joe Early recorded a 5lb grilse weighing 5lb caught and released on fly from beat 5 and lost a further grilse and Brian McGovern accounted for a 6lb grilse caught & released on fly from beat 5.

On Friday, Alan Watson reported a 6½lb grilse caught & released on a fly from beat 8 and Denis Bonnet accounted for 2 grilse weighing 3 & 4lb caught & released on fly from beat 9.

On Saturday, Alan Watson reported a 4lb grilse caught & released on fly from beat 8 and hooked and lost a further salmon.

All in all, nice catches for the week given the conditions. There are good numbers of grilse entering the river.
