25 May:  The river is in magnificent order –  perfect fly-fishable height and clarity throughout. Conditions for the start of this week are perfect. Fish are starting to show in good numbers on the upper river. We had two fish today, one was a very fresh salmon and the other a grilse with long-tail sealice. That makes 8 fish in the last 5 days for just 39 rod days.

A 4lb. grilse with long-tail sea-lice from Upper Kilmurry for Ian Powell Jnr.

Dave McDowell (N. Ireland) caught our first grilse of the season last Thursday – a sea-liced 5 pounder on fly from our very top beat just below Mallow.

The forecast is still for dry weather for tomorrow with rain Wednesday/Thursday & continuing unsettled into the weekend.

Our first salmon of the season on fly was caught on 22 May. Ken Walsh was the lucky angler and with this fish he also landed his first ever salmon on Fly. The salmon came off the Abbey pool on the Glenmore beat.
